She's Coconuts Over Marco Rubio!
Florida artist Leoma Lovegrove saw coconuts when she viewed Donny Deutsch's racial slur
about Marco Rubio on the Joy Behar CNN program.
And why not? Lovegrove's fertile, creative spirit dreamed up the original Florida Coconut Postcards and souvenirs. She ships hundreds each year from her international headquarters in Matlacha, Florida.
Lovegrove is now creating coconut postcards emblazoned with the slogan I'm Coconuts Over Marco Rubio. She's sent out the first one and, yes, she sent it to Donny Deutsch from the Marco Rubio fans all over the USA.
Ad exec Deutsch used the term "coconut" in reference to Florida Republican Senate candidate Marco Rubio. Describing someone of Hispanic descent as a coconut is considered to be a racial slur. "This disgusted me," Lovegrove says. "Marco Rubio's parents and grandparents
immigrated from Cuba and instilled in him the belief that there was no reason
he could not achieve the true American dream, be and do anything he wanted.
“That racial slur is something I just could not let stand without finding a creative way to show my support for Marco Rubio,” Lovegrove explained.

That was no idle threat.
Lovegrove will soon have a website and store-
front up where the Marco coconut postcards
can be ordered, either to send to Deutsch or
to another recipient of the buyer's choice.
Lovegrove hopes people will order them for
themselves, as well. "I'm a big Marco Rubio
supporter and hope my response to Donny
Deutsch's racial slur will turn into something
positive and which will benefit Marco."
The $25 cost for the Marco coconut postcard includes postage, and Lovegrove will donate all proceeds over and above her cost to produce and mail to Marco Rubio for Senate 2010.
